The sculpture depicts the hermit John the Baptist – a wanderer standing on a rock. His posture merges weariness and dignity, silent testimony and inner strength. In his hands, he holds a reed cross and a lamb, directly reflecting the words from the Gospel of John: “Behold the Lamb of God.” This powerful symbolic gesture invites viewers to pause, reflect, and seek a spiritual path.

The orientation of the sculpture has been carefully chosen – John faces the square and the church, with his back turned to the surrounding buildings. This creates a symbolic connection between faith and everyday life, between the sacred and the secular rhythms of the city. His stance embodies John as a prophet – one who points the way and calls for a deeper search for meaning.

The work is created by sculptor Mindaugas Junčys.
